Portland

Portland, you are missed.  Until I see you gain...  The weather was not so great but I had a great time capturing what this city offers.  Pray at The Grotto and have a drink or two at an eccentric movie theater watching Dead Pool.  Or drink first and pray later.

Introduction

Hi, thanks for visiting my blog!

My name is Kimi and I am a photographer based in Bellevue WA.  Bellevue is located about 15 minutes drive east of Seattle.  It's a beautiful city with a stunning view of the Cascades Mountains to the east, Seattle skyline with the backdrop of Olympic Mountains to the west, the majestic Rainer Mountain to the south and tee pee shaped mount Baker to the distant north.  I love living in the Pacific Northwest.  The moss covered ancient forests and the rich history of the city's old streets are captivating.  I am so glad to live in an area that offers so much for a photographer like me who uses the instincts for art as a guide to create my work.

I am also a mother to 4 very funny children.  I like to observe their interactions and am either laughing quietly inside, cracking up loudly, or having them pick ultimatum between their favorite toy or change their way.   I've learned that they skillfully copy my mood, so I try to stay positive and happy as much as possible.  As much as possible but not probably enough, I know!  My younger son Noah, who is 8 is autistic.  He is like a beautiful endlessly deep pond that is mesmerizing and mysterious.  He is an emerging talker and carries his iPad around to communicate.  He is starting to take an interest in reading and spelling.  He types in the word he doesn't know into an adoptive app and plays the sound to learn how to read it.  He is very smart!  His logic in his head works so differently than mine and although I've gotten good at reading his mind, there are times he throws a massive tantrum, hitting himself on the head and screaming.  All I can do is try to comfort him until he settles down.

I've learned so much from having a special need child, to appreciate what we have and how the words normal and successful can't be standardized.  I named this blog "Takara" which means a treasure in Japanese.  I named it in hope for my photography journey to be a full of discoveries, opportunity to meet some amazing people and my work to be a treasure for my clients.  That is enough about me and you must be wondering where I am going with this!  This is my first blog post, therefoe wanted to write a little bit about myself.  I will post here a tad bits about my work and thoughts relating to photography.  I hope you find it fun and interesting to read.  I welcome comments and love to hear fro you.

Have a great weekend!!
